My story...
Let me introduce myself - I started running at school. I was the left wing on my schools rugby team. Aged 15, another player injured my back in a match. - no more rugby. A new teacher started at my school, a passionate cross country runner, and got lots of us training properly. I became my schools cross country captain and kept training into my early 20s. Work and my career took over for a few years, but returned to running in 2004 as I moved to Manchester.
Even at school, I loved long distance running, but built my knowledge through a pathway of 10ks, then half marathons and only then embarking on my marathon journey.. I completed my 1st marathon in Munich in 2009 in 2hrs 55 minutes and competed in many since including London, Valencia, Amsterdam, Berlin, Boston and Paris,
I started coaching in 2014 through the England athletics coaching pathway, and private coaching in 2018. I've continued my development completing courses with the the running school in London in bio-mechanical analysis and in working with runners returning post injury. I'm a L2 qualified personal trainer and completing level 3.. When we're young, hills and plyometrics are the strength we need - as we get older, a focus on strength and mobility is vital. I train strength 2 - 3 times a week, and work with clients in the strength routines they should add alongside their running.
